Soak up the elegance and glamour of both the French and Italian Rivieras as you discover medieval villages and laze on golden beaches.

Itinerary Details

DAY 1 & 2 MONTREAL/GENOA

After your international flight you will arrive in Genoa on day 2. We will coordinate at the airport and transfer to our hotel in the town of Imperia on the Ligurian coast.  This golden stretch of coastline borders its more famous neighbour, the French Riviera and is just a picturesque boasting azure waters, sandy beaches, and palm˙lined promenades. DAY 3 SANREMO

Located on a wide sheltered bay, Sanremo is delightful to explore.  We will do this today on our included tour in  the company of a Local Guide.  We will stroll through its charming Old Town where a maze of lanes twist their way down the hillside. Admire a colourful display of exotic blooms amongst its exquisite manicred gardens and well-kept parks.  Down by the seafront, another highlight is a Russian Orthodox chruch, similar in design to the Saint Basil’s in Moscow. DAY 4 MONACO & MONTE CARLO

The stylish principality of Monaco is a sovereign state  that has been ruled by the Grimaldi family for more  than seven centuries. It boasts luxurious hotels, exclusive restaurants, and the highest number of millionaires per square metre than any other country in the world!

The district of Monte Carlo is the sophisticated playground of the rich and famous, renowned for its famous casino, exquisite, gardens, opulent boutiques and a grand harbor filled with expensive yachts. We will discover these glamorous sights on today’s full day included excursion.   (B)

DAY 5  SANTA MARGHERITA & PORTOFINO

Santa Margherita is one of the most elegant resorts on the Italian Riviera.  You can discover its charm on our options excursion, which also includes a visit to Portofino which we will reach by boat (weather permitting).  What used to be a quiet fishing village is now one of the region’s most exclusive resorts, filled with designer boutiques and a fine selection of of restaurant and bars.  Take a walk among its maze of streets to the Church of St Giorgio, which is close to the harbour.  Perhaps take a seat at a cafe here and enjoy spectacular views across the bay as you sip a coffee or enjoy a chilled glass of wine. DAY 6 MENTON & DOLCEACQUA

Today we will head to Menton in France, a coastal town on the Cote d’Azur close to the Italian border.  Its streets are lined with pretty pastel-coloured houses.  There will be time to take a stroll and admire the 17th century Basilica of Saint-Michel, one of the finest baroque churches in Southern France.  Crossing the border back to Italy we will stop in medieval Dolceacqua, made up of two beautiful villages connected by a stone bridge. DAY 7 GENOA

Why not join our optional excursion to the medieval town of Genoa today.  Highlights of our walking tour will include the old port with its many museums and attractions including the house where explorer, Christopher Columbus was born.  (B)

DAY 8 NICE & ST PAUL DE VENCE

Nice, set against a backdrop of blue skies and sparkling sea, is the chic capital of the French Riviera.  This is where our optional tour begins today.  We will visit the Place Massena, the largest square in the historic old district.  It is home to impressive fountains and stunning Neoclassical buildings with red-coloured façades.  Recognized as a national monument of France, we will also see St Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral.  Consecrated in 1912 with the support of Tsar Nicholas II, inside is housed a vast collection of icons and decorative works of huge historical value.

Later in the day, we head inland to the charming medieval village of St Paul de Vence. St Paul de Vence is Built on a rocky outcrop and surrounded by ramparts.  As stroll around the Old Town reveals a maze of charming streets, shady squares and beautiful views of the Bay of Nice. (B,D)

DAY 9 DEPARTURE

Following breakfast, we will transfer back to the airport for our return flights home. (B)

Optional Extra Excursions

France – Discover Nice and St Paul de Vence  – $117

We will visit the Place Massena, the largest square in the historic old district, which is home to impressive fountains and stunning Neoclassical buildings with red-coloured façades. Italy – Genoa – $100

Enjoy a full-day journey to this bustling city port. We will enjoy a walking tour in the company of a local guide where we will visit the ancient gate of the town. We will visit Christopher Columbus house where he spent his childhood and then the Doge Palace and the beautiful cathedral of the town which has a façade dating back to the beginning of the 13th century.

Later we will continue to see via Garibaldi, with the beautiful mansions of nobility which have been a world heritage site since 2006. We will then wander down narrow alleyways to the reach the old port area where you can relax and enjoy some free time.
Full Day – moderate – Scenic Tour

 

Italy – Margherita and Portofino – $122

We will explore one of the most elegant resorts in Eastern Liguria. Enjoy a walk through the narrow streets and shopping centre. After free time for lunch, we head to the resort of Portofino by boat. Explore the area of Portofino including the Church of St George, or relax in the harbour. Portofino boat trip is weather permitting. Full Day – Must See – Moderate Walking.
