Project Description

October 1 – 3, 2020

4 Days

Stratford Festival is North America’s largest classical repertory theatre company with an outstanding line up for 2020. Presenting classics, contemporary dramas and musicals, they put special emphasis on the plays of Shakespeare. Roll back in time, and the year was 1950.The railway had just pulled out of Stratford. In a bid to breathe new life into the community that sits on the idyllic Avon River, journalist Tom Patterson tabled the idea of a Shakespearean theatre. How fitting that in the spring, the brand-new Tom Patterson Theatre will open for the 2020 season.

Itinerary Details

Day One We will check in at our centrally located host hotel in Stratford and go out for fine dining this evening in Hamburg, only a few minutes out of Stratford. This evening at 8:00 PM we will see a real changer for Stratford, a Tony-winning Best Musical of 2005 Monty Python’s Spamalot staged at the Avon Theatre. (D)

Day Two   Following breakfast, we have a Forum Speaker event at 10:30 this morning. Enjoy Independent lunch and shopping time before your first included show this afternoon. The musical Chicago holds the record for longest running musical on Broadway and is being transformed for Stratford Theatre under the direction of the awesomely creative Donna Feore.  We will have a little down time and dinner at our hotel before your evening show, and you have choice when you register. Colm Feore plays the title character in the comedy, The Miser. The second offering this evening is a brand-new stage musical that charts the highs and lows of rock duo Walker and Rhodes. It is called Here’s What it Takes; a new musical for a new theatre – The Tom Patterson.  (B, D)

Day Three This morning following breakfast, we will check out and take the short drive over to the St Jacob’s Farmers Market for a couple of hours before heading back to Eastern Ontario.  Our expected time of arrival in Cornwall will be approximately 6:00 PM. (B)
