Itinerary Details

Day 1 Cornwall-Rimouski  At various times today during our travels, we will be within sight of the Saint Lawrence River, a body of water that hosts recreational activities to commercial shipping and everything in between. This afternoon we will make a visit to one of the most prestigious woodcarving museums in North America. World renowned artists have come from this area and many works by each are on display.

Day 2 Rimouski -Percé.  Our day will start with a visit to the Lighthouse Museum where we learn the story and history of The Empress of Ireland.  It was one of Canada’s worst marine disasters, but one that is seldom talked about. Our second visit is the HMCS Onondaga, Cold War-era decommissioned Canadian submarine that served in the Royal Canadian Navy and later the Canadian Forces. The last visit will be the second highest Lighthouse on the lighthouse route, one of forty-three traditional lighthouses. Learn about the critical role of kerosene oil and mercury in the operation of this iconic structure.  A good portion of our afternoon will be spent hugging the shoreline of the Gaspé Peninsula. Our destination for a two-night stay in Percé overlooks the bay and Bonaventure Island. The view from the dining room and places in our resort is exceptional. [B, Boxed L, D]

Day 3 Percé.  This morning, weather permitting, we have a boat cruise which will have us sailing around the famous Percé Rock and Bonaventure Island, home of a natural bird sanctuary. On past tours, we have seen Basque shark, Harbor and Grey seals, Eagles, and of course thousands of birds during our cruise. Great Cormorants, Atlantic Puffin, Black-legged Kittywakes, Razor Bills, Common Murre, Herring Gulls, Northern Gannet, Black Guillemot and Double Crested

Cormorants all visit and nest in this fascinating part of our great country. It will be an exciting  experience today! You’ll have free time to stay on Bonaventure Island to hike & bird watch or ferry back to enjoy and explore the Village of Percé. Before dinner this evening, a visit to a living historic and authentic 1928 store will have you smiling over the number of things that were part of everyday life back when…  [B,D]

Day 4  Percé – Rivière-du-Loup.  Following the south-east shore of the Bay of Chaleur this morning into the top part of New Brunswick to Campbellton, we will stop for lunch. We may even come face to face with Restigouche Sam. Crossing the Matapedia Valley which is by far one of the prettiest spots in the Gaspé Peninsula, we arrive to Rivière-du-Loup for our overnight stop. Dinner at the end of each travel day is always something we look forward to. [B,D]

Day 5 Rivière-du-Loup – Québec City.   We arrive to Québec City today via ferry out of Lévis. It is a photographer’s dream approach to this historic old Walled City.  Lots of time to explore Le Petit Champlain and have independent lunch. This afternoon you can repeat the same independent discovery time but of the upper walled city after checking in to our centrally located hotel. We have a delightful group dinner planned within walking distance of our hotel this evening. [B,D]

Day 6 Québec City-Cornwall. What better way to wrap up this journey but with an authentic sugar-bush meal experience.  [B,L]
