Nashville, Memphis, & Pigeon Forge

11 – Day Tour
It was an impromptu jam session involving Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash made on December 4, 1956, at the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee that started the ball rolling. In a noticeably brief period, a recording was released under the title “Million Dollar Quartet.” While the jam session appeared to have happened by sheer chance, what came out of it was pure genius. Rock ‘n Roll took off like a wood fired steam engine and the rest is history. Let us enjoy an incredible musical journey with, not just rock and roll, but new and old country, from Memphis to Nashville and then onto The Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
Tour Overview
Day 1 & 2
Crossing the border to upstate New York, we make our way southwest. Our first overnight stay will be in Cleveland Ohio. On day two, we arrive in Nashville to check in to our host Hampton Opryland Hotel which is central to many activities in Nashville.
Day 3 & 4
We have an exciting recording session for the entire group today. Originally built in 1956, more than 35,000 songs were brought to life in RCA Studio B. Additional highlight features in Nashville are visits to the iconic Ryman Auditorium, Country Music Hall of Fame, and Saturday night at the Grand Ole Opry, Central Tier 1 reserved seating.
Day 5 & 6
On Route to Memphis, we visit Loretta Lynn’s Plantation Home, Replica Butcher Holler Home, Coal Mine #5, and The Coal Miner’s Daughter Museum and have lunch there. We stay at the lovely Guesthouse at Graceland and have the Elvis Experience Tour including a tour of the jets. There will also be time spent in the core of Memphis to explore Beale Street, and areas of interest such as the Peabody Hotel made famous by the Peabody ducks that spend their days in the opulent fountain in the lobby of the hotel; the famous Orpheum Theatre walk of fame, charming Main Street serviced by Vintage Electric Trolleys, and Sun Studio (subject to daily visit availability)
Day 7, 8 & 9
Our destination for the next three nights is in the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, staying in the delightful city of Pigeon Forge in order to visit Dollywood, Gatlinburg, and more. Pigeon Forge may have city status, but it is just a great little ‘village’ that is all about Dolly Parton, factory outlets, great music theatres, family attractions & specialty stores.
Day 10 & 11
The scenery is spectacular in the Smoky Mountains along The Appalachian Mountain Range and into the Shenandoah Valley. We will overnight in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania before the last day drive back to Canada.
