First Passage to the West, Eastbound

Vancouver-Kamloops-Lake Louise-Banff-Calgary

July 13th – July 20th, 2022

Experience the West! Beginning in captivating Vancouver, BC, this journey takes you to the stunning mountain towns of Kamloops, Lake Louise and Banff, and finishes in the western city of Calgary, AB.



Day 1- July 13th    Vancouver, BC – Direct flights from Ottawa-Arrive in Vancouver by noon and spend time exploring this scenic city at your own leisure. Join with group for dinner. Overnight in Vancouver, Sheraton Wall Centre, Vancouver. (D)

Day 2- July 14th  Vancouver, BC

Vancouver sight-seeing today will include Grouse Mountain & gondola, and Capilano Suspension Bridge and a FlyOver Canada Experience. Overnight in Vancouver, Sheraton Wall Centre, Vancouver (B)

Day 3- July 15th Vancouver, BC to Kamloops, BC

GOLDLEAF Service aboard The Rocky Mountaineer. Departing the coastal city of Vancouver, Rocky Mountaineer will take you east following the banks of the Fraser River to Kamloops, located in the heart of British Columbia’s interior. On today’s journey, you will see dramatic changes in scenery, from the lush fields of the Fraser Valley to the forests and winding river canyons of the Coast and Cascade Mountains ending in the desert-like environment of the BC Interior. Highlights include the rushing waters of Hell’s Gate in the Fraser Canyon and the steep slopes and rock sheds along the Thompson River. Upon arrival at the Kamloops Station, you will be transferred by Motorcoach to your overnight accommodation. The pick-up time for tomorrow morning’s Motorcoach transfer to the train station will be posted in the lobby of your hotel. Overnight in Kamloops – Hotel TBA (B, L)

Day 4- July 16th   Kamloops, BC to Lake Louise, AB

Your breathtaking journey continues in the majestic Canadian Rockies into Banff National Park. Among the highlights today is the point where the last spike was driven to complete the Canadian Pacific Railway from ocean to ocean. Following mighty rivers and deep canyons, you ascend to the highest point on the journey and cross the Continental Divide. Navigate Cathedral Mountain in the perfect maze of The Spiral Tunnels, modeled after a tunnel system in Switzerland. This will be one breath-taking moment after the next today. Overnight in Lake Louise at Fairmont Lake Louise (B,L,D)

Day 5 – July 17th Lake Louise, AB to Banff, AB

Travel from Lake Louise via one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. This will be a full day of sightseeing which will include a tour of Yoho National Park and the Spiral Tunnels, Emerald Lake, Moraine Lake and the Valley of the Peaks plus Takkakaw Falls. Lunch will be included today at Emerald Lake Lodge. Overnight in Banff, Banff Caribou Lodge and Spa  (B,L)

Day 6- July 18th  Banff , AB

Free day today to enjoy independent sight-seeing choices in Banff or surrounding areas. Optional extras today could be The Ice Explorer or Jasper Park Skywalk, or a luxurious spa day at the Caribou Lodge. Your choices are unlimited. Overnight in Banff, Banff Caribou Lodge and Spa  (B)

Day 7 – July 19th Calgary, AB

Begin the morning with a sightseeing tour of Banff. Among the points of interest are Bow Falls, Lake Minnewanka, Surprise Corner and the Hoodoos. Banff Gondola to the top of Sulpher Mountains for spectacular 360-degree views is included. Upon arrival in Calgary, we will visit Heritage Park Historical Village for included lunch.  While here, discover how the west used to be, at Canada’s largest living history museum. Overnight in Calgary, Delta by Marriott Calgary (B,L)

Day 8 – July 20th  Ottawa, ON – Direct flights from Calgary to Ottawa.

Your journey ends today with our return flights home to Ottawa from Calgary. (B)
